Melody is a Senior Legal Consultant at Phukubje Pierce Masithela Attorneys where she specialises in cybersecurity, data privacy and ICT law in general. She is very passionate about the intersection between law and technological innovations. She is a published author and has published her work in law journals, international law blogs and newspapers. She recently contributed a book chapter on Data Protection in the International Comparative Legal Guide.

Currently, she is undertaking her PhD studies at the University of Witwatersrand and her project focuses on jurisdictional challenges of cloud computing services on cybercrime investigations.

She has been named at one of the Mail & Guardian top 200 influential young people in South Africa for 2021.

In 2020 she was a Fellow at the Center for African Affairs and Conflict Research (CAACOR) where she researched on policy issues around Digital Identity and Cloud Services. She is also an alumni at the African School on Internet Governance (AfriSIG). Melody is also interested in bringing awareness to cybersecurity issues for children. She has been (before Covid-19 lockdown) actively engaged in cybersecurity awareness programs for children.
