Chris Hessenflow

Special Agent Chris Hessenflow is a Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Assistant Attaché assigned to the U.S. Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa. With over 16 years of law enforcement experience, Chris currently manages a portfolio of HSI criminal investigations spanning 17 countries throughout sub-Saharan Africa.  These investigations target transnational criminal organizations involved in human trafficking, international money laundering, wildlife trafficking, child exploitation, commercial fraud, and several other programmatic areas under the broad investigative purview of HSI.  Prior to his assignment in South Africa, Chris served in both Arizona and New York, where he led investigations that resulted in the dismantlement of international criminal organizations responsible for the illegal movement of people, narcotics, and counterfeit goods into the United States.

 A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Chris holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Missouri and a Master of Science degree from Sam Houston State University.  Chris and his United States law enforcement colleagues throughout the world value the important work of regulatory and compliance investigators on the front lines of financial crime investigations and look forward to collaborating on future cases.
